Tips About Wine: There is So Much More to Know about Wine
What do the different wines taste like? What can I expect? And, how does this wine compare to that wine? We don’t automatically know this stuff. To the uninitiated, it is a lot to Not Know. Well, here is some information to Educate you and perhaps help you make choices as to what type of wine you would like to try. Each Wine has it’s own Qualities Unique to It. That too is part of the Wine Magic in store for You.
Wine Tips: Wines are Divided into Classes or Groups.
Wines within a group will have similar characteristics in taste, body, sweetness, fruitiness, dryness (bitter), color, etc. Check these out:
Wine Tips: Lighter Wines, (Women usually prefer these).
Chardonnay Wines – These wines are characterized as being Dry, medium to full Bodied with moderate Acidity and Alcohol. And the Flavors range from Apple and Lemon to Papaya and Pineapple. And It also shows notes of Vanilla when aged with Oak.
Moscato – These wines usually have Light-bodied and sweet flavors, sometimes with tropical flavors and light bubbles. Typically has flavors of Peaches, Orange Blossom, Honeysuckle, Pears, Mandarin Oranges and Meyer Lemon. 5-6% Alcohol by Volume.
Rose’ – This type of wine is usually have a taste of Fruit with Strawberries, Citrus, Melon, Raspberries, Cherries, and Fresh Flowers. And They range from Sweet to Savory to Dry. Rose’ wines are produced by filtering off about 10% of the juice from the crushed fruit before it picks up too much of the flavor from the skins of the grapes. Varying the length of time the juice is in contact with the peels, will make a big difference in how the wine will taste. It can range from a few hours to days with the heavier wines.
Pinot Grigio – A Dry White Wine with a “Punchy” acidity with Flavors of Lemons, Limes, Green Apples and Honeysuckle.
Wine Tips: Heavier Wines (Usually preferred by Men).
Sauvignon Blanc – These wines are usually Dry and Fragrant White Wine coupled with a Crisp Dryness, Light Body and Mellow Color. Almost always Dry and Young in style, rarely Aged. Used in France to make refreshingly Delicate Sweet Dessert Wines.
Chenin Blanc – This type of grape is very versatile, being used for Dry to Fully Sweet wines, Still or Sparkling (with bubbles), and range in Color from Pale Straw to Pale Amber having a widely varying flavor and Aromatic profile.
Wine Tips: Really Heavy Wines (Men Usually Prefer These)
Cabernet Sauvignon – This type of wine usually has a flavor Strong with Tannins and Full Body, Dark Color, and that same Black Currant Fruit. When grown and made well, It can Age for Decades, taking on layers of Pencil Shaving, Graphite, Cedar, Tobacco, Leather, and comforting Baking Spices.
Merlot – Is usually a Dry wine with Medium to Moderate Acidity, Softness and with Sweet Fruit Flavors to Bordeaux blend to offset the Rough Tannins and Acidity of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wine Tips: Enjoying Your Wine can be Done in Many Ways
Having Friends and Family in for a special occasion, A Job Promotion, An Anniversary Dinner, A Birthday Celebration. Just Getting Together with Friends and Family to enjoy the Evening, the Possibilities are Endless.
Wine Tips: A “Wine Magic” Tasting Party is One Way to Explore the Pairing of Food and Wine:
Get together With a Group of Friends and sample different foods with a Good Wine and taste how they enhance each other. The Wine will complement the taste of the Food and vice versa, the Food will complement the taste of the Wine. It is a win/win situation that will make the evening Memorable.
Tip: Charcuterie Boards: can be simple or elegant. They can include such choices as: An assortment of cheeses, Nuts, Dried Fruits, Crackers, Jams/Jellies, Chocolates, Meats (Salty and Savory), Honey (1 or different varieties), Fresh Berries, Pickles, and Vegetables. It is a taste experience. There really are no rules: Just be adventurous and have fun with it.
Tip: Single Serving Plates for your guests can be Pre-Dished for ease of serving.
With just a few guests, this is perfect. And it makes it a little more “Fancy” than dishing it off a Main Board. It also gives you an idea of how much you need to prepare for the number of guests you have. It also is great when you are going to be tasting many wines in the course of the Wine Magic Event!

Always a great idea to start with a Lighter wine such as the Tanya Ricord Rose’, then to a heavier wine if you so desire. Wines vary in strength, color, fruitiness, body, etc. Sharing these different flavors and tastes is the beauty of a Wine Magic Pairing Party.
